My favorite days at Recess, are the ones where I get to tell the story of how Harrison & Me first met. 30,000 ft up, I was pouring coffee & noticed a curly haired, dimple smiling, freckled face boy in seat 12E. I complimented his hat (cause how else are you supposed to let a cute guy know you’re interested). He smiled & immediately, I felt butterflies. I handed him his coffee trying to keep from shaking. As I continued the service, I went out of my way to walk past his seat. I probably went through the aisle ten times to collect garbage. Every time, I looked, I saw a green hat gaze in my direction. I immediately would turn away, trying to act calm, cool & collected, (HA) too late for that. During the flight, I brought him a few cups of coffee, & if that wasn’t obvious enough... he was in the MIDDLE seat. Nope not the aisle, the MIDDLE seat. The people around him were probably thinking “how desperate is this gal”. We land in Minneapolis & as he is walking towards me, I collect myself, & he says “Thank you for being such a great hostess, you were so kind”. WoWoWoW... I feel like I’m going to pass out. I stumble to formulate a sentence, & finally get the words to ask if this is his final stop. He says that he is headed to San Diego, & asks if I will be on his next flight. Sadly, I reply no. I feel discouraged as he walks away. I mosey up to the top of the jet bridge to see where the San Diego gate is departing, & sure enough, the gate is right next door!!! HALLELUJAHHH!! This is my chance! I take a look & see if I can spot a green hat, & he’s nowhere in sight. I wait a few minutes & nothing.... I walk to the bus stop with a feeling in my gut to talk to him again. So with the help of my trusty pal @instagram, I searched his name, & got the courage to send him a message. Now here we are years later with our dreams in action- baking croissants & bread, brewing coffee, & living in a community we absolutely adore.
